Stove

Goal

Preventing lungs and respiratory problems

Discription

Under the supervision of Professor Van Schayck of the Maastricht University, a stove was developed in India (Bangalore) with which no smoke enters the home.
In May 2019 we transferred two sets of molds for making stove's from India to West Papua. With such a set of molds, the local bricklayer in West Papua can make several stove's with local means.

The papuas no longer have to cook on an open fire. There will be no more smoke from charcoal fires in the houses. The risk of respiratory diseases is considerably reduced. Eye irritation and headache due to flue gasses are prevented.

Budget

The molds (6 metal molds per set) were made available thanks to Professor van Schayck.

Realization

In the summer of 2019 we transferred two sets of molds to the village of Opiaref on Biak and the village of Tablasupa near Jayapura.

Project	Tourism and diving resort Fakfak
Goal	Development of tourism in Fakfak
Description	Tourism gives the local population extra livelihoods. There will also be funds available with tourism for the conservation of natural diversity and for combating overexploitation of nature. With homestay tourism and cruise ship visits, tourists can stay in the beautiful nature for a short or longer period of time and explore the special underwater world.

Mangrove coastal planting

Doel

Development of mangrove ecosystems

Omschrijving

Tropical shores of mangrove forests form a complex ecosystem. They protect the coast against erosion, act as a filter for coastal waters and thus provide a nutrient-rich breeding ground for a wide variety of marine animals and other wildlife. Communities living in and around these forests depend on this natural resource for their livelihood.

We will now have to act to protect these essential ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.

Project	Webshop with articles from the Tropics
Goal	Online sales of products from West Papua
Description	By selling products from the tropics we stimulate the (small) local economy. We want to include coffee from coffee farmers from the Baliem valley in the assortment. In addition to stimulating the local economy, we also offer more financial opportunities with the web store for the projects with which we want to further improve the prosperity and future of the papuans in West Papua. At start-up it will not be easy to match the purchase of our web articles with the expected turnover. In addition, we will have to look carefully at how we set up the return process.

Project	Lawsuit against the Dutch State
Goal	Addressing the Netherlands on maladministration by the forced transfer of West Papua (the former Dutch New Guinea) to Indonesia
Description	The West Papua Foundation (SWP) wants to realize its objective in the form of projects; own projects and participation in projects of others. In addition, SWP has raised the issue of the unlawful transfer of West Papua to Indonesia in a lawsuit against the State of the Netherlands
